SPC Systems has been at the forefront of the development of better ways of using current programming languages to increase the reliability of programs whilst reducing the time and effort needed to write, test and implement them.

Based on the idea of seamless extensions to COBOL compilers, our research has led to implementations of the COBOL VALIDATE feature, transaction processing extensions, structured COBOL syntax and, our biggest-selling single item, COBOL Report Writer for compilers that do not support this feature. Using cross-platform development technologies, we have provided solutions across a range of target systems and compilers.

Our COBOL Report Writer product began as an add-on for certain ANS-74 compilers which did not contain the Report Writer language.

Since then, our range has increased to cover IBM COBOL for z/OS, OS/390, VSE/ESA and VM/ESA and a range of compilers running under Windows and OS/2.
